A Blustery Start to a Meaningful Journey: Walking for Dementia UK

Today marked the commencement of a significant journey for me, one filled with determination, purpose, and a gusty challenge. As I set foot on Exeter Racecourse for the first leg of my walk, little did I know that the elements would test my resolve in unexpected ways.

The wind, with its relentless force at 35mph, greeted me like an unyielding adversary as I traversed the back straight.

Yet, amidst the struggle, there was a sense of purpose that propelled me forward.

Today was not just about conquering the physical barriers; it was about making strides towards a cause close to my heart.

Exeter Racecourse was alive with activity, hosting a vibrant Family Fund Day. Despite the weather's defiance, a bustling crowd gathered, demonstrating unwavering support for the event. Their generosity spoke volumes as £542.06 was collected, a testament to the community's compassion and solidarity.

To each person who contributed, whether through their presence or their donations, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your kindness will have a profound impact on the lives of those affected by dementia. Every penny raised will be channeled directly to Dementia UK's bank account, ensuring that it fuels vital support services and research initiatives.

For those unable to attend but still eager to contribute, online donations are warmly welcomed. Your support, no matter the form, fuels the momentum of this journey and amplifies its impact. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of individuals and families grappling with dementia, offering them hope, comfort, and resources to navigate their journey with dignity and resilience.

As I reflect on today's challenges and triumphs, I am reminded of the power of community and collective action. In the face of adversity, we stand stronger when united by a common purpose.

You also never know who you are going to bump into along the way and for all my friends that live in Duquesa, here is Tim Kerswell, yes no longer running a Fish n Chip shop, known to us as Tim's Fish & Chips, but now an online bookmaker. It was great to see him.

And so, with each step forward, I carry with me the spirit of generosity and compassion that defines this journey.

Join me as we continue to walk towards a future where dementia no longer casts its shadow over countless lives. Together, we can turn the tide, one step at a time. Tomorrow sees a 66 mile drive to Wincanton where we go again, spreading the word and raising funds for Dementia UK.

For a reminder who wish to contribute to this cause, donations can be made online here:

Thank you for being a part of this journey and come back tomorrow for the latest news. Regards Graham Arnold 7th April 2024
